Terra Recognita Foundation has just joined this series of cultural events in 2021, with the view of long-term cooperation. ‘Cinema on the Border’ is a festival in Cieszyn/Český Těšín, on the PL/CZ border, where Visegrad panels were organized in 2021, and similar plans are projected for future years. In 2021, Terra Recognita participated in the organization, as a partner (not lead organization).
‘Memory of Nations’ project is initiated and launched by the Czech NGO PostBellum, aiming to erect memento for Central European people persecuted by Communist or Fascist forces. The role of Terra Recognita is to contribute to this large-scale oral history&dissemination project with Hungarian interviews, photo&video documentations. Primary result is a travelling multimedia exhibition, expected to visit all the V4 capital cities in 2022-2023. Our common aim – together with other partners – to re-shape the project in future years towards a more contemporary direction, reaching out Ukrainian refugees and their helpers (under the name of ‘Try to Cross the Iron Curtain’, and ‘New Solidarity 2022’).
One of our largest project was launched in 2016, as a kind of continuation of our earlier travel-writing projects. It aimed to launch a smartphone application where tourist-guide content can be launched, but for long-term travel: for the Budapest-Warsaw railway route. Passing all the Visegrad countries, this 10-hour long train route has many sights to offer the travelers, however they are liable not to be aware of them. The travelogue-content and its IT-platform – called Peripatos – tries to form a new form of infotainment for persons who are open and ready to get acquainted with Central Europe.
Abbreviation K4 stands for the Czech, Slovak, Hungarian and Polish denomination of book (kniha, könyv, książka), as the project desired to offer translated literary works of contemporary writers from the V4 countries to all the other Visegrad nations’ audience. For instance, books of Hubert Klimko-Dobrzaniecki (PL) or Viktor Horváth (HU) were translated into other languages. Project was coordinated by Margit Garajszki, now the editor of Continental Literary Magazine.
